I'm Barbara Grace and I hope you've enjoyed the pre-training course you've been on.
If you have, and you like how Creative Mindfulness teases out new layers of insight and awareness, then I invite you to join me on what could be one of the most important journeys of your life.
This year we're introducing a Certificate of Modern Psychology (Creative Mindfulness) program. It involves 6 weeks of practical therapeutical training. (AU$997) If you choose to continue on to the longer program (AU$2970), your initial fee will be deducted. You'll find out more about the programs below.
First though, allow me to share a story with you.
On a spring evening, about eighteen years ago, two women graduated from the same school. They were alike in many ways. Both were smart, creative and filled with desire to live a rewarding life. They dreamed of making their mark in the world - whatever that was to be.
Not too long ago, these two women connected again at a class reunion.
They were similar in many ways. Both had experienced ups-and-downs in relationships and each had children.
But one difference separated them. One of the women struggled to live with a sense of purpose. She was always busy being ... busy - overcoming obstacles that 'life' put in her way. Time always felt against her. Relationships were a regular source of pain and frustration. Work was routine and often boring. On many levels her life hadn't panned out the way she thought it would
The other appeared to have it all together. Easily dealing with problems as they arose. Attracting interesting people into her life. Living in tune with an inner sense of peace. Yes, challenges came her way - but they didn't overwhelm her or lead her to feeling 'stuck'.
What made the difference?
I've often wondered what makes the difference in people's lives. It usually isn't talent, intelligence or perseverance. It isn't that one person wants a successful life that's purposeful and the other doesn't.
The difference lies in how a person uses the insights they're given.
I know from my experience running courses that some people glance over a program, hoping to find the 'one thing' that will 'make the difference' for them.
Yet the people who do well, who take the time to reflect and do the work become my 'legends'. What I mean by this is they grow exponentially. They're not 'dabblers'. They're do-ers. And their life reflects this.
I'm imagining that you've gone through the pre-training because you're looking for a way to use your creativity while helping yourself (and others) in a fresh new way. Perhaps you're interested in becoming a coach. Perhaps you're only 'looking'. Either way, that's ok.
You see, people from a broad range of backgrounds study Creative Mindfulness.
They're teachers, CEOs, graphic designers, artists, managers, parents and professional health care workers (among others).
Each has had a desire to use their love of creativity as a way of helping others.
Each one's purpose is led by their needs to this present moment.
This year we're introducing a new Certificate level program. It's designed as an entry point from which you can progress to the Diploma program.
The program explores the 8 Keys of Creative Mindfulness. Designed to open gateways to new levels of thinking, it's a brilliant place to begin your journey.
In the free pre-training course you've just experienced, we looked at the 1st Key: Environment
Following this we'll be exploring: (you'll find more detail about the course below)
In total, you'll experience 9 weeks of Creative Mindfulness you can use either personally or professionally.
These keys open doors to greater awareness and insight. We explore them creatively so you can experience them personally.
Having an experiential program means that you continue growing. We each do. I believe life is about growth - not stagnation. That means bringing awareness to whatever is impacting our life, knowing it offers 'a pattern' to higher understanding.
It doesn't matter how educated you are in personal growth and development, or how 'arty' you are - each of us finds a space to grow and expand both personally and professionally.
The Certificate in Modern Psychology (Creative Mindfulness) follows on from the pre-training course you've just experienced.
Your investment for this program is AU$997.
If you choose to enrol in the full Diploma program (AU$2970) - your initial investment is deducted.
The full program (12 months), is outlined further down this page. It comes with monthly personal mentoring. If you purchase this program you automatically receive access to the Certificate program.
Pinch Pot Promises - one of the activities from the Creative Mindfulness Master Coaching Clinic
My work is in helping people live the life they were created for. I use creatively designed tools that make a real difference in people's lives, relationships and work so they can step into a more confident and authentic version of the person they know they can be.
And this is what I want to share with you.
But this wasn't always my story. I dreamed it would be. I hoped it would be. But the reality was very different. In the past I experienced relationship breakdowns, multiple career changes, chased 'shiny objects' that sidelined my true calling and made heaps of mistakes.
You may relate. Until I made a decision to shake off the 'old story' and choose a new one I was stuck. Not any more. While 'life' still happens in all its glorious ups-and-downs I have the skills and insight to manage whatever is going on in positive ways.
My Promise To You:
When you choose to join this program, my promise to you is that you'll receive everything you need to work successfully with others. The only additional ingredients needed are you, your commitment to the program and your intention to follow through.
How Am I Qualified To Lead You On This Journey?
Professionally:
I have the experience, knowledge and background to help you achieve your dreams.
Personally:
I believe creative insights are the keys to change.
Talking about the change a person wants to see or the problems in his or her life can feel like turning in a loop - a mouse wheel - going over the same territory again and again hoping for new insights.
While talking is part of the process, innate creativity is the missing ingredient, I believe.
This doesn't mean that every time I work with someone I drag out the paints and brushes. It can do - but not always.
It often means creating a woven tapestry of stories filled with analogies, life metaphors, visualizations using a person's time line, meditative relaxation exercises, presence-building activities, mind-body work and ... yes, so much more.
Thousands of people who've done either this course or our mini-courses are testimony to the fact that creative insights lead to positive change.
It all begins with an intention. And a desire. To live a more fulfilling life. Not one ruled by procrastination and indecision, but one built around motivation and passion.
P.S. Ask yourself: Where do you want to be this time next year? In the same place or with a new focus creating your own purpose-filled life?
P.P.S. Don't take my word for the transformations you'll experience ... take a look at these testimonials of people who took the program and got inspiring results:
"I have found this course a wealth of knowledge packed with wonderful insights that have opened up my thinking into new avenues about myself ."Baby steps lead to big changes" so one of my clients said, so true when it comes to this course. Slowly but surely you peel away layers of your psyche to reveal a brand new you. This is why I am happy to recommend this course." Hardeesh B. Netherlands
"The mark you have made on my life is indelible and the masterpiece that is 'Creative Mindfulness' has equipped me with every tool I need to become everything I was always meant to be." Heidi, New Zealand
"Just completed the School of Modern Psychology’s Coaching/Practitioner with Barbara Grace and it has been a fantastic ride! Many people who know me have also remarked that I have a stronger presence and more confidence than before I started this course. I had been searching for just such an avenue to bring me to another level in my life. Learning was a wonderful experience through Barbara’s insights and gentle encouragement. I know that I’ve gained skills and knowledge that I can use in my life and can carry through to teach others live a better life with more ease. I’m grateful for Barbara’s presence and guidance and for the community she built where I met some amazing new friends." Lucy C. Canada
“Enrolling in the Creative Mindful psychology course has been the best thing I have done in the last year, it has helped reconnect me to my creative side, focus my mind on areas of my life where I was lacking and have since made changes and allowed me to meet a group of people who are generous enough to let me join them on their journey. It is a supportive environment, which has allowed me to grow a huge amount in such a short period of time. I would encourage anyone who is looking at making changes in their lives or just wanting to getting in touch with their creative side to do this course.” J Whyte (New Zealand)
Modules Include:
Here you'll discover the 8 Keys to working with others and exploring personal filters, perceptions and triggers to your own experiences.
You'll also be engaging in a range of creative experiences designed to expand your curiosity and developing your own artifact that will symbolise elements of your journey so far.
Discovering the journeys you take because of the decisions you make offers insight into where 'stuckness' may be lurking.
By reflecting on how we create change, and the choices we make along that pathway, it's possible to raise your inner courage and step more confidently into your full identity.
This module offers clarity and an intuitive journey into how struggles can be smoothed with simple tools.
Feeling into how our mind and body co-relate, you'll revel in the 'creative pause' and discover the intuitive nature of how to manage your mind in a way that offers deeper insights into both creative living and mindfulness.
You'll be exploring the work of notary researchers who are leading the field in neuroscience and discovering how to think in more holistic ways.
Coaching involves two core skills: being able to listen with your whole body and sense the experience of a what a person is saying and because of this presence you bring to the conversation, ask reflective questions that can deepen a person's insights.
Coaching is not 'fixing' or giving pre-set answers. It's not working through worksheets (although that can be part of the process).
Coaching is the art of building relationship with the person and helping them 'dance' with whatever may be holding them back at the moment. It's about helping to shift perspective and align skills, values and attitudes with a desired outcome.
As a 'companion' you walk beside someone - you are not the 'guru'. Your role is to use the skills you've been developing throughout the course and collaboratively connect to another's present state.
In this module you'll be using the techniques you've been learning around sensing the moment, emotional regulation, creative explorations and good communication to work with other students, peers and clients (depending on your own personal readiness) to draw the threads of companioning another person together.
A super practical module where you'll be creating resources and amplifying your skills.
You'll be discovering more practical techniques to use with clients and building a bank of ideas to apply in various situations. This means you'll always have a tool kit you can rely on in any situation that will help you work effectively with others.
Having a specific modality used by medical practitioners within your program means you're complementing your existing skills with a proven process that uses mindfulness (and all you've been learning) to integrate personal acceptance with a specific set of tools.
Brief interventions learnt during this module assist you to work quickly, effectively and easily with others in a way that helps manage uncomfortable emotions, stress and tension.
This is one of the most profound modules you'll work with. It comes at the end of your studies so that you can delve deeply into what it means to be 'in relationship' - with yourself, with another and with the space that's created between two or more people.
An evocative, reflective and creatively inspiring process that helps you see yourself within the context of 'other'.
All that has gone before helps you reach this pinnacle of awareness through poetic reflections and mindful resonance with the 'self' and 'other' in relational patterns.
In today's fast-paced world, doing what you love - or not - can mean the difference between being excited to wake each morning or dying with your dream still in your heart. This wouldn't be a choice - it would be a life sentence. And I don't want that for you - you're worth more than that - and you know it.
In the same way that I knew it when I wasn't living the life I was designed for. That life led to depression and feeling worthless. It was in discovering Modern Psychology's amazing tools that my life turned around.
I didn't do it by myself, I had people beside me that knew I needed a hand. And because of that, I grew the courage to take a chance and invest in myself. And you can too.
Did I have unlimited resources to study? No.
Did I have unlimited time? No.
Did I have a yearning to live a bigger life? YES.
Today can be the first step in your journey if you're ready now.
This isn't about taking second-best (or as a girlfriend used to say: 'expecting the burnt chop') - it's about choosing to gain the skills that will give you a professional credential to work with others in a creative and collaborative way.
Heidi, a recent graduate of the coaching program sent me this testimonial:
"Curiosity won and I clicked on a Facebook link, with plenty of trepidation and skepticism about where it
might take me. How could I have known that it would lead me to a learning journey that answered every
need and desire I had? The CM Practitioner and Coaching series is masterful in both design and
presentation. It provides an extremely accessible, user-friendly and supportive environment for learning
and personal growth. Being able to learn amongst peers from all walks of life added to the richness of the
experience, but even more valuable was the wealth of integrity, wisdom, knowledge and creativity
contributed by Barbara Grace. In this world it is difficult to find people you can trust, look up to and
respect. As a mentor, Barbara, you have been exemplary. I couldn’t have hoped for better. The mark you
have made on my life is indelible and the masterpiece that is CM has equipped me with every tool I need
to become everything I was always meant to be. Thank you."
I was so touched by what Heidi wrote.
And I know that Heidi has made life-long friends on the program - she truly found her tribe - as we all have.
Sharing insights and experiences with like-minded people is magical.
How fortunate we are to be in this community.
Benefits of Studying Creative Mindfulness With The School of Modern Psychology:
Each week you'll receive an email with the latest course work. In it you'll access online portal where you can download the lectures or watch them online.
The activities and readings usually take between 5 and 10 hours per week to complete, depending on how deeply you go into the practical components.
Some people enjoy spending hours doing a creative project to gain the most from it, while others use the creative process as a springboard for reflection - it's up to you how you proceed through the work.
We also meet online every fortnight to talk about the projects, gain deeper insights, answer questions and do therapeutic work as required to demonstrate the skills being learnt. If you are unable to join at the time, the webinar is recorded for you to watch at a later time.
If life gets busy and you find yourself in catch-up mode, that's fine - many people work through the program at their own pace. We suggest you work through the material at a pace that suits you as you are able to download the material and proceed at a time that works for you.
There are no 'essays'. The work we do is experiential, which means our focus is on guiding you through a multi-modal way of learning that will assist you in working with clients in a therapeutic and enriching manner.
To gain the Diploma of Modern Psychology you'll be asked to submit the following work at the end of the program:

“The Creative Mindfulness free e course could not have come at a better time. I was healing from a long illness, and my spirit was looking for ways to be sparked and soothed all at once. I have always been fascinated with the brain, have always loved art, yet never considered myself very talented, and had meditation part of my life. This e course was a perfect combo …mindful, purposeful creativity with conscious connections to our unconscious. It was like a warm bath, or a massage at a spa, or a day out with the girls, and it was all for me. Turns out I did not have to be a magical artist to enjoy the course. The activities are brilliantly designed to allow virtually anyone to compete them at their own level of skill. The free e course helped me to remember the dormant parts of my spirit and soul that had been quiet for too long. It awakened a peaceful way of seeing beauty in the world that I loved.
I have been a teacher for many years, and the free e course sparked a calling in me to extend my teaching to adults. I went on to take Barbara’s Coaching Program, (the free e course has no obligation to go further however), and I am in the process of developing plans for a healing center using Creative Mindfulness as a base.
The free e course has been life changing for me. I am so grateful to Barbara Grace and the opportunity she opened for me, to blossom, to heal my spirit, to find my best self again. Now I am healing and finding new and exciting ways to be me, and you are part of the reason for that!” L.McMurdo (Canada)
“Thank you Barbara for the introduction with the free mini course. It sparked a interest in mindfulness and creativity that I have, and has lead me to take the Practitioner, Coach and Trainer course. I am enjoying all aspects of the course, it has opened me up to the arts and given me an new interest in that.It is giving me new skills to be able to teach others how to improve their lives but unlocking themselves through a different way, Creativity. I am gaining more insight into how we can unblock ourselves. I am starting to share this work with groups and I love being able to share with them ways they can help themselves and feel safe knowing they can write things down and they don’t have to vocalise it. They love being able to contemplate and they also love the time to draw and create. It has shown me new ways that emotions and life’s problems can be understood and overcome through creativity.” J. Tunningley (Australia)
"I came to this course looking for a deeper understanding of myself and to connect with my creative side and have not been disappointed. The way the course is put together enables personal reflection, growth and understanding in a fun creative way. The online community is supportive and inspiring. Best thing I have done to nurture and nourish my spirit while finding my unique place in this world." S. Russell (New Zealand)
I am so happy to have found the free introductory "Creative Mindfulness" course on Facebook because it led me to sign up for the full course and then continue on with the Practitioner course. Barbara is such a wonderful instructor and mentor. She not only has impressive credentials, but she also has amazing insight and shares her great wisdom freely with her students. If you have any questions or concerns, she is more than willing to help you find the answers. She is very approachable and understanding. The course content is well organized and there are interesting topics. The projects are so much fun too! Moreover, I learned a great deal about myself and how to apply practical and of course creative methods to help me achieve my personal and professional goals. Bottom line, I highly recommend this fantastic course! (N. Miller - USA)
"I'm so pleased I made the leap of faith to participate in the Mindfulness Practitioner/Coach Program. It has helped me gain a deeper understanding of self and others in my life, through curiosity and exploration. The course itself is very well planned, delves into a range of interesting resources and promotes self development through the modality of creativity... Something I originally thought I had somehow 'lost' at some point and have now reconnected with. It's flexible and dynamic enough for each student to use in a way that best suits their learning journey and goals. I’ve been so impressed with the quality of mentoring, to keep me focused and move past any challenges so I can gain the most out of the course. What a fantastic and eye opening experience! I can safely say my life has changed for the better with the new skills I’ve learned and I look forward to coaching others to be their ‘best self’ and live the life they truly want in the future." (Angela P, Australia)
What a
journey! I have had several years of training in psychology and psychotherapy
yet the CM practitioner and coach course is what had the most impact not only
on my coaching and therapy practice but on my personal life as well. I very
much enjoyed the high-quality online training, our wonderful group of trainees
as well as the intense 1:1’s with Barbara Grace. I had way too many aha-moments
to list – thank you! This year leaves me stronger, more focused, reconnected
with my dreams and passions as well as with a long list of tools and activities
to use when working with my clients. Two thumbs up – and if I had more than
that it would be even more thumbs up!

Creative Mindfulness is for anyone who wants to discover more about their own creativity and use it in a way that helps others live life more holistically.
We have people from a wide range of backgrounds who are transitioning between careers and who were looking for something more aligned with their beliefs, values and passion - as well as people who are already working with others such as teachers, counselors, managers, business owners and therapists who wanted to add this valuable skill set to their work.
Most people who become a Creative Mindfulness Practitioner/Coach are not from a creative background, yet love creativity and want to expand and explore this skill further, so you don't need to be an artist to do this program.
Essentially, this course is for those committed to being their personal best and who want to help others reach their potential by applying a proven tool - Creative Mindfulness.
If you're looking for a quick-fix approach to learning that's covered in a 6-day course - then this program is not for you. While short courses can give you skills to take away and apply, in our experience the depth of learning isn't enough to fully prepare you to work effectively with clients.
This is why the program is full of practical applications that we encourage you to implement as soon as possible as this is where the richness lays in being able to immerse yourself fully and experience the holistic approach that Creative Mindfulness uses.
While we don't require you to complete long essays for this program, you're asked to develop and maintain a portfolio based on the course work that you will be doing. This forms a record of your journey and a resource for you to work therapeutically with clients.
If you decide not to continue with the Creative Mindfulness program within the first 30 days of the program starting, and you let us know via email, you will receive a 100% refund.
Please know that we aim to meet your highest expectations so as you have the best possible experience with both the School of Modern Psychology and your Creative Mindfulness Coaching program and we work closely with our students to make this a reality.
